Increase productivity. As a therapist seeing four to seven people per day can be a really daunting task. It is made worse if I had not had a great sleep the night before. These clients have booked time with me, so it is my obligation to meet with each person listening to every word. What has really helped to motivate myself when the day Is starting is to get something done no matter how small off of my “to do” list.
The enemy of productivity is procrastination when there is not a deadline that has to be met. While it is so easy to put off completing a big project or something like studying for a test, do something on a smaller scale first. This can be as small as making your bed or saying “hi” to a coworker. Increase productivity.
What happens when you check the item off of your list is that you are now building momentum which adds to motivation. A lot of times when someone is procrastinating a big project, they are thinking about the hardest part of it and procrastinating gives the person short term relief from the pain and discomfort of what the project might bring. Increase productivity.
If something looks big and unsurmountable, break it down into smaller parts. You will find as you complete those smaller parts that you will ride the momentum and motivation to finish the bigger parts.
