Anxiety Symptoms. Considering everything that is going on now with COVID-19 and suddenly being home with your family all day, every day – it is hard not to be anxious. How can you discern if there really is something deeper?

I heard a term on the news called “Infodemic.” This is basically a saturation of information where some of it is true, but some of it is just plain wrong. Turning on the evening news is a challenge as there is always really bad news every night. It is like they are making this up. A headline may be “COVID-19 devours New York City, storm front on the east coast, alien invasion in North Dakota (I may or may not have made that last one up myself.

At what point should you seek help when and if you feel anxiety is too intense? If the effects of anxiety are completely blocking you from performing daily functions such as making lunch or self-hygiene, it may be a good time to seek help.

A client of mine recently checked into the hospital thinking it was Coronavirus. This person had massive headaches and nausea. However, he tested negative. Anxiety was causing his symptoms. This client was already on an anti-anxiety medication, so it was increased more. The past two weeks for the handful of clients with an anxiety disorder have been miserable.

If you know someone who is not feeling better over time and they are for example in pain and/or unbearable discomfort it is time to seek help.
